Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Cladis (the "Service"), operated by fortea (CVR 34445605), Vestergade 15A, 5000 Odense C ("we", "us", "our"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. The Service
Cladis analyzes files you upload and reports how structurally similar they are to one another, returning a similarity matrix, ranked pairs, and related views. The Service surfaces similarity to support your own review. It does not make findings, accusations, or determinations on your behalf, and similarity scores are indicative signals — not proof of copying, authorship, or wrongdoing. You are solely responsible for any decision you make based on the results.
2. Accounts
You must provide accurate registration details and keep your password and API keys confidential. You are responsible for all activity under your account. Notify us at contact@cladis.io if you suspect unauthorized use.
3. Acceptable use
- You must have the legal right to upload and process every file you submit.
- You must not use the Service for unlawful purposes, to infringe others' rights, or to upload content you are not authorized to share.
- If you upload files containing other people's personal data (for example student submissions), you are responsible for having a lawful basis to do so and for complying with applicable data-protection law. We recommend anonymizing filenames and removing identifying metadata before uploading. See our Privacy Policy.
- You must not attempt to disrupt, reverse engineer, overload, or gain unauthorized access to the Service or its infrastructure.
4. Subscriptions, billing and trials
Paid plans are sold and billed through our Merchant of Record, Paddle.com Market Limited ("Paddle"), which handles payment processing, invoicing, and applicable taxes. Your purchase is therefore also subject to Paddle's buyer terms presented at checkout. Plans renew automatically for successive periods (monthly or annual) at the then-current price until cancelled. Where a free trial is offered, you may cancel before it ends and you will not be charged; a payment method is required to start.
5. Cancellation
You may cancel at any time from your account or via Paddle. On cancellation your plan remains active until the end of the current paid period, after which it will not renew. Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy.
6. Your content and our rights
You retain all rights to the files you upload. You grant us a limited licence to store and process those files solely to provide the Service to you. Uploaded files are retained in storage while the related analysis job exists, so you can review match evidence, and are permanently deleted when you delete the job. Uploads that are never attached to a job are automatically deleted within 30 days. The computed results are retained with your job until you delete them. We own all rights in the Service itself, including its software, brand, and content.
7. Availability and disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will detect all instances of copied or similar content, nor that every flagged pair indicates copying. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any decision made in reliance on similarity results. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid for the Service in the three (3) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including your mandatory rights as a consumer.
9. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms or use the Service in a way that risks harm to others or to the Service. You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time.
10. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated "Last updated" date, and where appropriate we will notify you. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Denmark, without regard to conflict of laws rules. The courts of Denmark have jurisdiction, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have in your country of residence.
